Outer Banks 2012

Ash and I took a much needed summer vacation while I was absent from the blogosphere. We rented a townhouse in Kill Devil Hills, NC with mom and sis for a low key, relaxing week and it turned out to be just that. We spent lots of time with our toes in the sand. I ate well, cooked with my sis, slept soundly, read for pleasure for the first time in a while and even had enough breathing capacity to climb some of the sand dunes at Jockey's Ridge. We've been back for a couple of weeks now and I'm already itching for another vacation. Until I can break free again, I have photos. I thought I'd share.  Here are some iphone pics from the trip.
Sunset over the dunes at Jockey's Ridge.

Ash and Sis climbing the dunes ahead of mom and I.

Lola resting under the hem of my maxi dress after a long day at the dunes.

Glow in the Dark 3D Mini Golf...don't judge us. It was raining outside.

The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Backyard BBQ Night (my food had a separate little disposable grill)

Hands down, the best bruschetta I've ever had. Soft, warm, slightly crisp flatbread, balsamic reduction
and a dollop of goat cheese. Perfect tomato and olive oil ratio. Perfection. Thank you Tale of the Whale in Nags Head!

My husband and sister are somewhere beneath that cresting wave.
I'd already been tossed around by the water and left for the comfort of my beach chair.

Toes in the sand. That sums up my days in the Outer Banks.
