31 Days of Giving

If you follow the blog regularly, you know that I've been on a mission to do a gratitude project each month to keep things in perspective. I truly believe that if you are busy focusing on what you are thankful for, the tough stuff that comes up each day won't derail you quite as much. In figuring out what to do this month (when there is already so much gift giving), I happened upon Glamour Magazine's Annual 31 Days of Giving Calendar. On the calendar, there is a way to give each day. Most days focus on a charity to donate money to but there are other options for giving your time, which is perfect if you can't afford some of the larger donations (though nothing suggested is over $150).

After reviewing the Glamour calendar, I decided to use it as inspiration. For me, the point is to find a different way to give each day this month. Want to join me?

Possibilities are endless. Donate time or money to the organizations that mean something to you. "Adopt" a less fortunate family for Christmas and play Santa. Send a shoebox of goodies to a child through Operation Christmas Child. Help feed families impacted by Hurricane Sandy. If you are fortunate enough to be able to share this season, why not do so? Sharing is caring (ok, I know that's lame/cheesy BUT you can't say it's not true). Get to giving! Even a smile is a gift.
