1. Loving the simplicity of Food Rules as I try to detox from all of the crap I've eaten this Summer.

2. I've read Kid Fury's irreverent entertainment gossip blog for years and found Crissle through Fury's Tumblr page. Imagine my delight when they got together to do a weekly podcast. I never miss The Read.

3. It's no secret that I love pretty much everything Jay-Z has ever put out. I like the idea of Picasso Baby as an interactive art installation.

4. Read an interesting article in Elle about Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). I respect her ambition and that she is unapologetically herself and serious about helping people during her freshman term in Congress.

5. I saw Fruitvale Station over the weekend. It is a beautiful and powerful movie by a new director (Ryan Coogler) who tells the story as it happened. There is no agenda, which allows you to just feel the tragedy of Oscar Grant's untimely and unfair death. I highly recommend it. (p/s The movie won the Grand Jury Prize (dramatic feature) and the Audience Award (US dramatic film) at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

6. I read The Skimm every morning to get a quick download on what's going on in the world. You can subscribe here.

7. I'm obsessing over these simple salad recipes. I see lunch and dinner for the next several days.

8. We added a seating area to our bedroom a few months ago. Right now, there are 2 chairs, a table and a lamp. We also hung some Moroccan style lanterns over the area. The chairs are gray, the table and chair legs are a dark ebony wood to match our bed, dresser and nightstands. I am in desperate need for a pop of color and some accessories to give the area a finished look. I'm getting inspired by stuff from One King's Lane.
