Monday Quotable

A long time ago, on a Oprah show far, far away, Oprah made a statement about listening to your inner voice. Today's quotable is a summary of that. From what I remember, on the show, the lesson was stated this way:

The Universe speaks to us, always, first in whispers.
And a whisper in your life usually feels like…

"Hmm, that's odd."
Or, "hmm, that doesn't make any sense."
Or, "hmm, is that right?"

It's that subtle. And if you don't pay attention to the whisper, it gets louder and louder and louder.

It's like getting thumped upside the head.
If you don't pay attention to that, it's like getting a brick upside your head.
You don't pay attention to that, the brick wall falls down.

That is the pattern that I see in my life and so many other people's lives.
I'm not sure I need to add to today's quotable outside of that. It just spoke to me because I've had a few moments lately where I heard whisperings to do one thing and I did the opposite for convenience. Every time, without fail, it was the wrong decision. I live my life under the mantra that "Everything happens for a reason." Sometimes, that reason is that you're (and by you, I mean me) dumb and actively ignoring that needling inner voice telling you the right thing to do. I need to train myself to listen more closely to that inner voice. I'm getting pretty tired of brick walls.
