Weekly Weigh In

Hi everyone!  Well, I am half way back. At least I am back to the blog.  Still not 100% myself but hopefully getting there.  In any event, since the last time I blogged, I am down .6 for a total of 6.2 pounds.  Slow and steady.  Of course, I can not really attribute this to working out. Since I have not been feeling well I have not been to the gym.  That said, I am still loyal to my Fitbit.  I wont let that $100 spend go to waste! I also have not really tried new recipes of late. This week, however, I will be trying Nicole’s Portobello Mushroom and Couscous recipe that she posted yesterday. That looked phenomenal.

I will say this – although I am not down a size, I do feel a difference. Things do not seem as snug anymore.  I even purchased a pair of new cargo pants that I thought looked pretty good on me!  So for me, that is a plus.  I am hoping that I feel ok by the end of the week to get back to Couch to 5K.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed!!!!!

If you’ve been following the Six Week Grind, you know we are almost at the halfway mark. I beefed up the workouts and after Day One of this cycle, I need a hot tub like you wouldn’t believe. That 1000 Calorie Fitness Blender workout is something serious. Last week, I only lost ½ a pound. That’s not too shabby but with the work I’m putting in this week, I’m hoping to see better results.

Since I’m doing and sharing the Six Week Grind each week, it is hard to pick one workout or meal to highlight. After much deliberation (ok, it was about 2 minutes), I decided to go with Neila Rey’s Bruce Lee Challenge. I started it yesterday. It wasn’t that hard on it’s own (it gets harder) but tacking it onto the 1000 calorie challenge SUCKED. Very descriptive, right? I’m sorry. I’m without energy to find a more descriptive word for my pain and exhaustion…because I’m still trying to catch my breath. Anyway, the challenge will take me 3 days past the end of the Six Week Grind but I am determined to finish. I mean what better way to celebrate the end of the Grind than with 1,000 kicks and punches? (I’m gonna be a puddle of sweat at the end of this thing).

As for the meal, I chose to go with the Quinoa and Arugula Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette since (A) I’m crushing on lemons in a big way and (B) I’ve eaten it enough to know it’s delicious, light and perfect for a summer lunch.  If you have issues with rinsing/toasting/cooking quinoa, check out these instructions.  Also, if you don’t have hazelnuts on hand, use what you have. This week, I will be going with almonds because I have so many.

Have a focused week! Happy Tuesday!
